Due to covid-19, these rates are still increasing. According to WHO(World Health Organization), mental disorders affect one in four people. What is mental health?

Mental health incorporates our enthusiastic, mental, and social prosperity. It influences how we think, feel, and act. It additionally decides how we handle pressure, identify with others, and settle on decisions. Moreover, it influences your capacity to adapt to pressure, beat difficulties, fabricate connections and recover from life’s setbacks and hardships.

Reason for your mental health

Mental health problems can have a wide range of causes. Different people may suffer from different causes. The following factors could be reasons for poor mental health.

  • childhood abuse, trauma, or neglect
  • social detachment or depression 
  • encountering separation and shame 
  • social disadvantage, poverty, or debt
  • losing someone close to you
  • severe or long-term stress

How to deal with mental health?

It’s time to recognize mental health as essential to physical health. There is no doubt that your physical health is directly dependent on your mental health. Do exercise daily at least for 30 min. Meditation is the key to control your mental health. It gives you peace and inner happiness.

You should learn how to keep your stress levels in check. Read articles about myths and facts about it. Gain true knowledge. Self-awareness is important. Watch motivational videos or read books about it. Talk to a friendly face. Take a break from your daily routine and enjoy your leisure time with your loved ones. If you feel you should consult a physiatrist then do not hesitate to go there. Understand that it is okay to be not okay.

Find purpose and meaning in life. This may be a reason for almost all stress that you don’t know what you want to do in your life. Finding a purpose for your life is as essential as setting your goals for a career. Do not push yourself so much hard. Take your life lightly. If you clear about the actual meaning of life, you are sorted. This will definitely help you to overcome your mental stress.

Eat a brain-healthy diet to support strong mental health. Your diet is equally important with exercise. Here is the list of food which affected your health.

Foods that adversely affect mood

  • Caffeine.
  • Alcohol.
  • Trans fats or anything with “partially hydrogenated” oil.
  • Foods with high levels of chemical preservatives or hormones.
  • Sugary snacks.
  • Refined carbs (such as white rice or white flour).
  • Fried food.  

Foods that boost mood

  • Fatty fish rich in Omega-3s such as salmon, herring, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, tuna.
  • Nuts such as walnuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts.
  • Avocados.
  • Flaxseed.
  • Beans.
  • Leafy greens such as spinach, kale, Brussel’s sprouts.
  • Fresh fruit such as blueberries.

The uplifting news is: you don't need to feel terrible. There are rehearses you can receive to lift your temperament, become stronger, and appreciate life more. But just as it requires effort to build and maintain physical health, so it is with mental health. Staying active is as good for the brain as it is for the body.
